TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF TRAVELLING
for using local, regular vehicles of public transport in Szeged

1.

Using our vehicles

Our vehicles are possible to be used by pre-purchased single tickets, single tickets purchased at the driver, valid passes, valid travel cards, or by certifying the entitlement to travelling in any other way.

The door at the front is designated for passengers to get on. When getting on, passes or valid travel cards must be shown to the driver without his request, futhermore, single tickets must be validated immediately after getting on. The doors at the back must be used for getting off.

Entitlement to travelling

Anybody may travel by vehicles of public transport – except for the following:      

            – passengers with infectious diseases must not take part in travelling

            – children under 6 years of age, and people with a mobility disability may travel  exclusively with an escort

People may be excluded from travelling if…

People may be excluded from travelling if:

– they are under the influence of alcohol

 – they misbehave or cause inconvenience to the other passengers in any orther way

– they do not observe the terms and conditions of travelling

The validity of travel cards

The validity of travel cards:

Any type of single tickets purchased in Szeged is valid on a single way, uninterrupted journey from the place of getting on to the terminus, on tram-, trolleybus-, or bus-lines. The single ticket must be validated with the ticket validating machine at the beginning of travelling – immediately after getting on – and must be kept throughout the journey, till leaving the vehicle.

When changing to a relief vehicle on the same line in consequence of a traffic obstacle, the other end of the ticket – that is the end without the number grid – must be validated, either by punching or by marking, in case of a validating machine. (In case of a ticket also containing the line number and ‘halved’ by a validating machine, the ticket is also valid for travelling on the relief vehicle on the same line to the terminus.)

 One-day travel cards / Three-day travel cards / One-week travel cards / Two-week travel cards:

Valid for the day the card was issued / for consecutive 3 days / for the period given.

People presenting their One-day travel cards / Three-day travel cards / One-week travel cards; or people owning their Two-week travel cards (the owner is possible to be identified on the basis of his ID number written on the pass) are entitled to travelling.

 The monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual passes are valid from 0.00 o’clock on the first day of the given month, quarter, half-year, or year to 24.00 o’clock on the 5th of the month following the given period.

The use of general city passes and one-week / two-week travel cards and the 30 day pass is restricted to an identification certificate. They entitle passengers to travelling together with a photo attached general pass card issued by the transportation companies, or a valid official identification certificate ( an identity card, a passport, or a plastic card driving licence ).

 People are entitled to an unlimited number of journeys free of charge if they are:

– children under 6 years of age –with adult escorting – showing any kind of identification certificate that is suitable for identification,

– over 65 years of age

  1. – Hungarian citizens
  2. – Citizens of European Union member states
  3. – Foreign citizens under the effect of an international convention
  4. – People owning a Hungarian Certificate or a Hungarian Dependant Certificate
  5. – Foreign citizens receiving old age pension according to the Hungarian legal regulations
  6. – Refugees

     Certification of entitlement:

A-C. – An identity card, or any document suitable for personal identification.

  1. – A “Hungarian Certificate” or a “Hungarian Dependant Certificate”.
  2. – A certificate issued by the Hungarian Pension Fund together with any document suitable for personal identification.

F. – A certificate proving the conditions together with any document suitable for personal identification.

People are entitled to an unlimited number of journeys free of charge if ….

People are entitled to an unlimited number of journeys free of charge if they are:

– children under 6 years of age –with adult escorting – showing any kind of identification certificate that is suitable for identification,

– over 65 years of age

Compensation

In case of a local, public vehicle service that is left-out, is interrupted, or runs differently from the given schedule, passengers can not claim compensation. [20/1981.(VI.19.) MT regulation 7.§]

7.

Hand luggage – transportation of luggage

Each passenger may transport a maximum of 2 pieces of hand luggage that are, according to their size or weight, possible to be carried by one person and that do not obstruct getting on and off; furthermore one sledge, one pair of skis, one bundle of saplings, one pram, one wheelchair can be transported free of charge. Ice skates can be transported only in a bag (packed).

Passengers can not transport

Passengers can not transport

– such an object the transportation of which is forbidden by legal regulation or official

resolution

 – such an object or parcel that endangers the physical integrity and safety of   passengers, or may damage or soil the passengers’ clothing or the equipment of the  vehicle.

– explosive, combustible, inflammable, toxic, corrosive or contagious materials.

– a loaded firearm.

Transportation of live animals

Transportation of live animals

 – only dogs wearing a muzzle and on a lead may be taken on a public transportation  vehicle.

 – the charge for the transportation of dogs not transported as hand luggage (not in the lap, a bag, or a box, etc.) is the same as the price of a single ticket valid for the vehicle. However, the transportation of guide dogs for the blind and police dogs is free of charge.

 – Transportation of dogs as hand luggage (in the lap, a bag, or a box) is free of charge.

 – Poultry, songbirds, pigeons, or any other tiny animals can be transported free of charge in such a basket, trunk, bag, or pack the size of which does not exceed the size of hand luggage, and which does not soil passengers’ clothing or the equipment of the vehicle. No other live animal can be transported on public transportation vehicles.

10.

Passengers’ conduct

IT IS FORBIDDEN …

 – to get on or off the vehicle after the sound signalling the start of the journey can be heard, to obstruct the closing of the doors, to operate emergency buttons without a valid reason, furthermore to open the ticket validating machine arbitrarily,

 – to smoke on board of the vehicle (to smoke cigarettes, cigars, or pipes)

 – to operate a radio, a tape recorder, or any similar machine in a way that it is heard by others,

– to eat or drink on board of the vehicle,

 – to get on the vehicle while having a cone ice-cream, or wearing roller blades,

– to travel in dirty clothes, or with hand luggage causing dirt.

 Anyone who causes damage or dirt to the vehicles, the passenger service establishments, including bus stop signs, posts, and timetables too, their equipment, is liable to pay the costs of tyding, cleaning, restoring, and replacing.

11.

Ticket inspection

The driver of the vehicle and the controller employed by DAKÖRT Kft., authorised for ticket inspection, is entitled to inspect the payment of the fare as fixed in the regulation by Szeged city of county rank, to inspect the validity of the ticket / the pass card / the pass / the travel card; furthermore the entitlement to any fare reduction. For this purpose, passengers are liable to present or to hand over their tickets, passes, travel cards, certificates entitling them to any fare reduction, to the employee authorised for inspection.

Invalid tickets, passes, pass cards or travel cards can be withdrawn by the person authorised for inspection, until the passenger certifies his possession of the pass and his entitlement to travelling.

Passengers who travel without a ticket, with an invalid (not validated, validated more than once, or late-validated) ticket, pass, or travel card, or who take advantage of any fare reduction without being entitled to, who transport a dog without a valid ticket or pass for the pet, furthermore who take an object on board of the vehicle that can not be transported as a parcel or hand luggage, and if the passenger or the hand luggage transported by him, or his live animal soils the vehicle, and/or who do not observe this present ‘Terms and Conditions of Travelling’ in any other respect, commit an offence, and can be made liable to pay an extra charge or can be excluded from travelling.
